Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – SEN
Leeds
Full-time, Monday to Friday

Finished your psychology degree and wondering what’s next?

If you’re curious about child development, behaviour, and how the right support can change a young person’s day, this could be a brilliant first step.

We’re working with welcoming schools across Leeds who are looking for Psychology Graduates to join them as SEN Teaching Assistants. You’ll be supporting pupils with additional needs, building trust, and helping them feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting pupils with SEN, including autism, ADHD, SEMH and learning needs

  • Working 1:1 or in small groups to help pupils stay engaged and regulated

  • Using strategies rooted in psychology, empathy, and consistency

  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

  • Being that calm, steady presence when things feel tricky

This role is a great fit if you

  • Have a Psychology degree or related subject

  • Are considering a future in educational psychology, teaching, or mental health

  • Are patient, curious, and genuinely enjoy working with young people

  • Want hands-on experience in a school setting, not just theory

What you’ll get

  • Full-time, consistent work in Leeds schools

  • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella faff

  • FREE access to our online CPD Academy

  • Support from a dedicated consultant who actually gets SEN

  • Experience that looks great on future PGCE, MSc, or doctorate applications

Experience in schools is helpful, but not essential. What really matters is your mindset, your compassion, and your willingness to learn.

If you’re Thrive trained, amazing, schools love that. If not, we’ll happily get you booked onto Protocol Education’s free Thrive training, a great boost to your SEN toolkit and your CV.
