We require Psychology teaching assistants to work with children who have special needs with our partner schools in Lewisham. This role will give you a good overview into working with special needs. We are specifically looking for psychology graduates who have a keen interest in developing their SEN skills and can also help out with interventions. The role is entry level positions and no previous experience is required but a passion/ willingness to bring change is must.

Do you have relevant experience or an interest in working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social, Emotional or Mental Health (SEMH) needs or PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties)? Are you hoping to go on to become an Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist? 

If you have the below technical skills and requirements then this would be the post for you.

  • Aspiring educational psychologists / SEN Teachers / Newly experienced/ Newly qualified Psychology. 
  • Mentoring 1:1 & Small Group work (6-8 class sizes)
  • An interest in working with students with SEND
  • outgoing, strong, confident personality and can work independently.
  • can do intervention with Numeracy and literacy support.
  • A patient and understanding approach.
  • Be flexible in your approach. 
  • Understand ABA - Applied behaviour analysis and ABT- applied behaviour therapy

About the school:

Various mainstream Primary school in Lewisham has a large proportion of students with additional needs including ADHD, EAL, Autism (ASD/ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Social Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Hearing Impairment (HI), Visual Impairment (VI), Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SpLD), Anxiety issues, selected mutism etc.  These are the children that would require additional support either 1:1 or in small groups. The school work closely with parents and outside agencies to make sure they are providing the best possible support to all of their students. The Senor Leadership Team are extremely passionate about promoting a healthy work-life balance and go to great lengths to ensure staff well-being is looked after.
