About the Role

If you’re a Psychology graduate and keen to put your skills to good use in a real school environment, this is a brilliant next step. We’re looking for someone who can support pupils across Newcastle, especially young people who benefit from consistent emotional, behavioural, or learning support.

It’s hands-on, meaningful, and perfect if you’re exploring careers in educational psychology, SEND, youth work, or mental health.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups, including those with SEMH needs, ADHD or other additional needs

  • Helping with observations, note taking, and contributing to pupil assessments

  • Putting in place strategies created by SENCOs and psychologists

  • Helping pupils access learning, from literacy and numeracy to social skills

  • Working closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals

What We’re Looking For

  • Psychology degree or closely related subject

  • A real desire to work with children and young people

  • Brilliant communication, patience, and a positive mindset

  • Resilience and empathy in bucketloads

  • Willingness to learn new techniques used in school settings

  • DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
