Psychology Graduate – Learning Support / SEMH Support (Secondary)
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Daily Rate: £90–£110
Protocol Education is working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Newcastle to recruit a Psychology Graduate to work in a learning support and pastoral capacity.
This role is ideal for graduates considering a career in educational psychology, mental health, counselling, teaching or youth work. The school is part of a values-led trust that prioritises wellbeing, inclusion and early intervention, and is easily accessible via public transport from across Newcastle and surrounding areas.
About the role:
As a Psychology Graduate, you will support students across KS3 and KS4 who may experience social, emotional or behavioural barriers to learning. You will work closely with teaching staff, SEN teams and pastoral leads to help students regulate emotions, remain engaged in lessons and develop positive learning behaviours.
Key responsibilities include:

Supporting students with SEMH, anxiety, low self-esteem or behavioural challenges

Providing 1:1 and small-group support interventions

Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies

Observing, recording and feeding back on student progress

Building strong, consistent relationships with students
This role is well suited to graduates who:

Hold a degree in Psychology or a related subject

Are considering postgraduate study or careers in mental health or education

Want hands-on experience in a secondary school setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
