Primary SEND Teacher – Communication & Sensory Pathways

Location: Sunderland
Contract: Full time, long term
Start: ASAP
Pay: MPS/UPS (PAYE)

This role is perfect for a Primary Teacher who loves nurturing progress in small steps and creating calm, structured learning spaces. You’ll be teaching pupils who benefit from sensory supports, visual communication and lots of consistency.

What your day will look like:

  • Leading a small class with high levels of adult support

  • Planning sensory-friendly, engaging lessons tailored to individual EHCPs

  • Incorporating visuals, symbols and communication systems (PECS, AAC etc.)

  • Building strong, trusting relationships through routine and warmth

  • Collaborating with speech therapists, OTs and experienced SEND TAs

The school values teachers who can move across pathways and adapt their teaching approaches.

  • Have QTS and experience with SEND or inclusive practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
