Primary SEMH Support Assistant – Gateshead

Some pupils don’t just need a TA, they need someone steady, kind, and consistent. If that sounds like you, this SEMH primary role in Gateshead could be a perfect match.

You’ll be working with pupils who need extra emotional support, clear routines, and adults who won’t take behaviour personally.

What you’ll be doing:
• Supporting children one-to-one and in small groups
• Helping pupils manage big feelings and tricky moments
• Using restorative approaches and positive behaviour strategies
• Encouraging social skills, independence, and confidence
• Working as part of a tight-knit, supportive team

What we’re looking for:
• Experience in SEMH, youth work, PRUs, care, or behaviour support
• A calm, grounded approach
• Someone who can build trust slowly and with patience
• A warm communicator who can set boundaries with kindness

What you’ll receive from us:
• Weekly PAYE pay
• Free CPD including behaviour, de-escalation, and trauma-informed modules
• A dedicated consultant who’s here for you
• Long-term opportunities in specialist settings

If helping pupils feel safe is your strength, this one’s for you.
