What if you could be the one person who helps a young person feel seen, heard, and valued again?
We’re looking for a Pastoral Support Worker to join our team supporting children and young people with additional needs in Northumberland. Many of the pupils you’ll work with have faced challenges that go far beyond the classroom—and your role is to be the steady, trusted adult who shows up, listens, and never gives up.
Job Title: Pastoral Support Worker
Location: Northumberland
Salary: £85–£100 per day
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term
This role is all about one-to-one relationships. It’s about helping children navigate the emotional ups and downs of school life, encouraging them when things feel tough, and celebrating their successes, no matter how small. You’ll be part of a team that believes pastoral care is just as important as academic learning—because a child who feels safe, valued, and supported is a child who can achieve.
What you’ll be doing:
-
Providing consistent, one-to-one pastoral support for pupils with emotional, social, and behavioural needs
-
Building trusting relationships with children who may find it difficult to engage with others
-
Helping pupils develop resilience, confidence, and positive routines both in and out of the classroom
-
Working closely with teachers, families, and external agencies to shape individual support plans
-
Celebrating small steps of progress and helping pupils feel part of their school community
We’re looking for someone who brings aspiration, integrity, kindness, and resilience into everything they do. You’ll believe in the potential of every young person, act fairly and honestly, lead with compassion, and help children build the strength they need to move forward. You don’t need to have done this exact role before—but if you’ve worked with children, supported people emotionally, or simply know how to build trust with others—you could be exactly who we need.
