If you’re the kind of person who notices when a pupil needs a quiet check-in, a bit of reassurance or someone on their side, this role could be an ideal fit.
We’re supporting a welcoming school that’s looking for a Pastoral Support Teaching Assistant to join their team. You’ll be working closely with young people who need a little extra emotional and social support to get through the school day feeling confident and understood.
What you’ll be doing
-
Offering daily emotional, pastoral and wellbeing support to pupils who need it
-
Helping pupils navigate challenges, regulate their emotions and build resilience
-
Checking in with students who may be struggling socially, academically or personally
-
Supporting teachers and pastoral staff to maintain a nurturing, consistent environment
-
Helping pupils feel safe and included in every part of school life
-
Recording key information and communicating clearly with staff around you
What the school is looking for
-
Someone with empathy, patience and a naturally warm approach
-
A good communicator who builds trust quickly
-
Experience in pastoral care, youth work, mentoring, SEND or behaviour support is helpful but not essential
-
A calm, steady presence for pupils who may need grounding throughout the day
-
A team player who’s proactive and great at noticing what young people might need
If you’ve supported young people before in any setting, that’s a huge plus. If not, but you’ve got the right mindset and a genuine want to help, you’ll still be welcomed.
