The role
A well-established secondary school in Northumberland is seeking a Pastoral Mentor to support pupils across KS3–KS5. The school places a strong emphasis on behaviour standards, attendance, and student wellbeing, and is looking for a confident professional who can provide consistent pastoral guidance and intervention.
This is a key role within the wider pastoral team, supporting pupils who may require additional guidance around behaviour, engagement, or emotional regulation.

Key responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support

Support pupils with attendance, behaviour, or SEMH needs

Implement behaviour plans and restorative approaches

Liaise with Heads of Year, SENCO and safeguarding leads

Monitor progress and maintain accurate records
The ideal candidate

Experience working with young people in education, care, or youth settings

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

Calm, consistent and professional approach

Confident building positive relationships with pupils and families

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
