The role
A well-established secondary school in Northumberland is seeking a Pastoral Mentor to support pupils across KS3–KS5. The school has a strong emphasis on personal development, attendance, and behaviour standards, and is looking for a confident professional who can provide consistent pastoral and behavioural support.
This role would suit someone experienced in supporting young people with SEMH needs, attendance concerns, or behavioural challenges within a structured secondary setting.

Key responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support

Support pupils with behaviour, attendance, or SEMH needs

Work closely with Heads of Year, SENCO and safeguarding staff

Implement behaviour plans and restorative approaches

Monitor progress and maintain accurate records
The ideal candidate

Experience working with young people in education, youth work, care or similar settings

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

Calm, consistent and professional approach

Confident liaising with staff and external agencies

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
