The role
We are working with a large, community-focused secondary school with a sixth form to recruit a Pastoral Mentor. The school has a clear focus on high expectations, mutual respect, and student development, with structured pastoral systems in place to support pupils effectively.
This role involves working closely with students who require additional support with behaviour, attendance, emotional regulation, or engagement, helping them succeed both academically and personally.

Key responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring support

Support pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs

Work closely with Heads of Year, SEN staff, and safeguarding leads

Support attendance improvement and reintegration plans

Act as a consistent, trusted adult within the school community
The ideal candidate

Experience in pastoral care, mentoring, youth work, or similar roles
-
Confident supporting behaviour and emotional needs
-
Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
