The role

We are working with a large, inclusive secondary and sixth-form setting to recruit a Pastoral Mentor to support students who require additional emotional, behavioural, or social support to fully engage with school life and learning.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in pastoral care, SEMH support, youth work, or mentoring, who can provide consistency, structure, and positive relationships across KS3–KS5.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group pastoral support

  • Support students with SEMH needs, behaviour, attendance, and engagement

  • Act as a trusted adult and positive role model

  • Support reintegration plans and targeted interventions

  • Work closely with pastoral leaders, SEN staff, and external agencies

The ideal candidate

  • Experience working with young people in a pastoral, mentoring, or support role

  • Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent

  • Confident managing behaviour and de-escalation

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
