The role

We are working with a supportive 11–19 secondary school seeking a Pastoral Mentor to support students who require additional emotional, behavioural, or social support to access learning successfully.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in pastoral care, SEMH support, youth work, or mentoring, who can provide consistency, empathy, and structure for young people across KS3–KS5.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support

  • Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour, and attendance

  • Act as a trusted adult and positive role model

  • Work closely with pastoral teams, SEN staff, and external agencies

  • Support reintegration, intervention programmes, and mentoring sessions

The ideal candidate

  • Experience working with young people in a pastoral, mentoring, or support role

  • Confident supporting SEMH and behavioural needs

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
