Pastoral Mentor – Secondary
We are working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in North Tyneside to recruit a Pastoral Mentor to support pupils across KS3 and KS4. The school has a strong focus on wellbeing, inclusion, and positive relationships, with clear systems in place to support pupils’ emotional and behavioural needs.
This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys working closely with young people, helping them overcome barriers to learning and engage positively with school life.

£110 – £130 per day | PAYE | Depending on experience
About the role

Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support to pupils

Support students with SEMH needs, behaviour, attendance, or engagement challenges

Act as a consistent, trusted adult within the school

Support emotional regulation and behaviour for learning

Work closely with pastoral leads, SEN staff, safeguarding teams, and teaching staff

Contribute to a calm, safe, and supportive school environment

The ideal candidate

Experience in pastoral care, youth work, education, or social care

Confident supporting pupils with emotional and behavioural needs

Calm, resilient, and relationship-focused

Strong communication and de-escalation skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
