The role
We are recruiting a Pastoral Mentor to support pupils within a large secondary school in Northumberland. This role focuses on behaviour, attendance, emotional regulation, and engagement, working closely with the school’s pastoral and safeguarding teams.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in pastoral care, youth work, social care, or behaviour support.

Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group pastoral support

Support pupils with SEMH, behaviour, and attendance needs

Help pupils regulate emotions and re-engage with learning

Liaise with teachers, pastoral leads, and SEN staff

Contribute to a safe and supportive school environment
The ideal candidate

Experience in pastoral, youth work, education, or care settings
-
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
-
Calm, resilient, and consistent approach

Confident working with vulnerable young people

Open to short-term or long-term placements

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
