Pastoral Mentor
Daily pay: £90–£100
Do you have a calm presence, a good ear, and the ability to help young people find their feet when things feel tough? This could be the role where you make your biggest impact.
We’re working with a large, well-established secondary school where relationships matter. Students are encouraged to aim high, but they’re also supported as individuals, especially when life outside the classroom gets in the way of learning. That’s where you come in.
As a Pastoral Mentor, you’ll be a trusted adult for students who need extra guidance, reassurance, or structure during the school day. You’ll help them regulate emotions, rebuild confidence, and re-engage with learning, one conversation at a time.
The role
-
Providing one-to-one and small-group pastoral support
-
Helping students manage behaviour, emotions, and attendance
-
Acting as a consistent, reassuring presence throughout the school day
-
Working closely with pastoral leads, SEN staff and teaching teams
-
Supporting students to feel safe, understood and ready to learn
The school environment
This is a school with clear routines, strong leadership, and a genuine belief in pastoral care. Expectations are high, but support is built in. Staff work together, communicate well, and take pride in creating a calm, respectful atmosphere where students can grow academically and personally.
What we’re looking for
-
Experience working with young people, in schools or similar settings
-
A patient, resilient and empathetic approach
-
Confidence in building positive, professional relationships
-
Someone who understands that progress isn’t always linear, and that consistency matters
Why this role works
-
Daily pay between £90 and £100
-
A meaningful role where your work has visible impact
-
A supportive team who value pastoral staff
-
Experience that’s ideal for anyone considering youth work, counselling, teaching or psychology
If you’re someone who believes every student deserves to be seen, heard and supported, this is a role where that belief turns into action every day.
