Role summary
We are looking for a calm, reliable and committed Teaching Assistant to work flexibly in the setting. The role may cover daily posts or part-time hours across term-time. You will support pupils in their classrooms, assist with structured routines, help with learning, support emotional regulation and promote a safe, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEND access their learning, working closely with classroom staff.

  • Assist with implementing visual aids, structured routines and sensory breaks as required.

  • Help manage behaviours of concern in a trauma-informed way, using de-escalation strategies and emotional regulation techniques.

  • Contribute to a positive, calm environment where each pupil’s dignity and wellbeing is respected.

  • Collaborate with staff, therapists and families to support each pupil’s progress and preparation for adulthood.

Skills & experience we’re looking for

  • Experience working with young people with SEN or complex behaviour (desirable).

  • Confidence using or willingness to learn visual aids (e.g., PECS), structured routines and sensory support.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, show empathy, patience and strong observational skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills, flexible approach to working hours.

  • A commitment to inclusive practice and to the ethos of a specialist setting.
