Mental Health Champion - Secondary School

 

A secondary school in the Birmingham area are looking to appoint  Teaching Assistant with responsibility for the further development and implementation of strategies and interventions to support students who may be struggling with mental health problems, those being diagnosed or students who are struggling with undiagnosed issues such as anxiety. 

 

Mental well-being has a tangible impact not only on students' happiness, but also on their potential.  This role is therefore very important to ensure that the school support all students to reach their full potential. 

The school is one of the most diverse secondary schools in Birmingham It is a vibrant, exciting and supportive place to work with many opportunities for professional development. 

The school is a highly inclusive 11-16 comprehensive academy with an excellent reputation locally for its high standards and inclusive ethos.  All our children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are fully included in mainstream lessons.  A special feature of the school is the designated specialist provision for children with speech language and communication difficulties, including autism.

 

•Experience of working with children in a secondary school or other setting

•Experience of supporting children with special educational needs (SEN)

•The ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents and staff

•Good ICT skills for word-processing, use of learning software and accessing on-line resources.
