Secondary schools across the North East are recruiting Maths Graduate Teaching Assistants to support teaching and learning within Mathematics departments at Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates with a Maths or numeracy-based degree who are looking to gain practical classroom experience and explore a future career in teaching or education.

Working alongside experienced Maths teachers, you will support lessons, deliver targeted numeracy interventions, and help pupils access and engage with the Maths curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Maths lessons within the classroom across KS3 and KS4

  • Working with small groups or individual pupils to develop numeracy skills

  • Assisting with intervention sessions, catch-up programmes, and targeted support

  • Supporting exam preparation and curriculum-based Maths activities

  • Working closely with Maths teachers and department staff

Requirements:

  • A degree with strong Maths or numeracy content

  • Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential

  • A genuine interest in secondary Maths education or teacher training

This Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant role offers valuable school-based experience and is an ideal stepping stone into PGCE routes, teacher training, or wider education careers.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
