LSA with Speech & Language Specialism 

A special education school based in North Somerset are seeking a Learning Support Assistant with a Speech & Language Specialism to join their student support team. You will support students either on a 1:1 or small group basis who have dyslexia and support them with their learning, whilst encouraging overall engagement with school life to help them reach their full potential. You will work under the direction of Speech & Language therapists and be a part of a collaborative team. 

Working hours: 8.30am-3.30pm, Monday-Friday. If you are a part-time applicant, please still get in touch.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of working with young people or adults with 
  • Build positive relationships with pupils
  • Tailor their communication style to respond to pupils according to their specific needs
  • Promote high standards of behaviour
  • Provide small group and 1:1 support - particularly involving Speech and language development
  • Be passionate about working with young people
  • Be empathetic and understanding of young people and the challenges they face 
  • Have a basic understanding of technology
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Have experience of SEN either in children or adults
  • Have experience in speech & language - either with children or adults in a school or care setting
