The role

Level 3 Teaching Assistant (Behaviour & SEMH Support)

We’re looking for a confident and committed Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support primary-aged pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. This role is all about consistency, trust, and calm support, especially when things feel tricky.

You’ll work closely with teaching and pastoral teams to help pupils regulate emotions, stay engaged with learning, and develop positive coping strategies. Progress may be gradual, but your impact will be felt every single day.

You’ll be a steady presence in classrooms and around the school, helping pupils feel safe, understood, and supported to make positive choices.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs on a one-to-one and small group basis

  • Using de-escalation and regulation strategies to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively

  • Building strong, consistent relationships so pupils feel respected and supported

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, SEN teams, and external professionals

  • Supporting behaviour plans and contributing to strategies that promote engagement and emotional regulation

  • Helping pupils access learning and develop confidence, resilience, and independence

About the school

The school is committed to:

  • Delivering a structured, engaging curriculum that builds strong subject knowledge and life skills

  • Preparing young people to be responsible, respectful, and active citizens

  • Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

  • Providing staff with high-quality support and professional development

  • Strong leadership, clear direction, and a culture of continuous improvement

Staff work closely with families to support wellbeing, attendance, and long-term outcomes, making this a genuinely supportive place to work.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural challenges, or additional needs

  • Brings a calm, patient, and resilient approach, even during challenging moments

  • Understands the importance of consistency, boundaries, and empathy

  • Works well as part of a team and communicates confidently with staff and families

  • Is genuinely motivated to help young people thrive, both in school and beyond

This is a brilliant opportunity for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant interested in behaviour support, SEND, youth work, psychology, or education, who wants to make a meaningful difference in a secondary school setting.
