We’re looking for patient, emotionally intelligent Learning Support Assistants to support pupils with SEMH needs in primary and secondary schools across Southwark. These roles are all about helping children feel safe, seen, and supported so they can engage in learning—on their terms.
You’ll be that steady presence in the classroom, building trust, encouraging self-belief, and supporting emotional regulation. It’s challenging at times, but the impact? Huge.
What you’ll be doing:

Supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists
-
Creating structure, offering calm encouragement, and building positive relationships
-
Helping children re-engage with learning and school life
What we’re looking for:

Experience supporting children with SEMH, SEND, or in a pastoral/mentoring role

A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach
-
Resilience and a genuine passion for helping children thrive
-
Team players who aren’t fazed by a curveball (or two)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
