About the Role

We’re looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming specialist school in Newcastle, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs. You’ll work closely with teachers and therapists to help children access learning, build confidence, and develop essential communication and life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities

  • Assist pupils with communication and interaction needs, using visual or alternative communication methods

  • Help with personal care routines where required, always promoting independence and dignity

  • Provide targeted support through one-to-one and small-group interventions

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to staff teams

Person Specification

  • Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND preferred

  • Patient, caring, and positive approach

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Adaptable and able to respond to a variety of needs

  • Committed to safeguarding and ongoing professional growth
