About the Role
We are seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist primary setting in Sunderland that supports pupils with special educational needs. You’ll play a vital role helping pupils access learning, supporting their social, emotional and academic development, and working closely with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored support.
Key Responsibilities

Assist class teacher in planning/delivering differentiated learning activities

Support pupils’ communication and interaction needs; use of visual aids / alternative communication methods as required

Help pupils with personal care, where needed, maintaining dignity and promoting independence

Monitor and contribute to students’ progress, providing feedback and observations

Support pupils in small group work and one-to-one interventions
Person Specification
-
Prior experience supporting children with SEND or in similar roles preferred

Patient, empathetic, reliable and caring nature
-
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
-
Flexible, adaptable, able to respond to changing pupil needs
-
Willingness to undergo training and follow safeguarding procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
