Learning Support Assistant – South Tyneside

How you’ll support pupils as a Learning Support Assistant

You’ll work closely with children who benefit from extra guidance, whether that’s helping them manage their routines, supporting them with classwork, or encouraging them when things feel tricky. Your role helps pupils build confidence, independence and a positive relationship with learning.

You’ll be part of a caring, experienced team who value teamwork, communication and a nurturing approach.

Your daily contribution as a Learning Support Assistant

  • Offering one-to-one and small-group support
  • Helping pupils stay focused and engaged in lessons
  • Using a calm, positive approach to behaviour
  • Assisting pupils with additional or complex needs
  • Working closely with teachers and SEND staff
  • Creating a supportive, reassuring atmosphere for every learner

What you’ll bring as a Learning Support Assistant

  • Experience working with children or young people
  • A patient, warm and adaptable approach
  • Confidence supporting pupils with differing needs
  • Good communication and team-working skills
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
