Learning Support Assistant – Gateshead

What the role involves

You’ll work with pupils who need a little extra guidance, offering one-to-one and small-group support to help them access lessons and build key skills. You’ll be part of a friendly, dedicated team who value consistency, positivity and a nurturing approach.

Your support will have a real impact on pupils’ confidence, emotional wellbeing and day-to-day progress.

Key parts of your day as a Learning Support Assistant

  • Supporting pupils with their classwork and routines
  • Helping children stay focused and engaged throughout the lesson
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and clear expectations
  • Working closely with teachers and other support staff
  • Creating a calm, reassuring presence in the classroom
  • Assisting pupils with SEND where needed

You’ll be a great fit as a Learning Support Assistant if you have

  • Experience supporting children or young people
  • A patient, caring manner
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence helping pupils with a variety of needs
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
