The role
We are working with a large, inclusive secondary school in Northumberland to recruit a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils across KS3–KS5. The school values high expectations, strong behaviour routines, and personalised support that enables all pupils to access learning successfully.
As an LSA, you will work alongside classroom teachers and SEND staff to support pupils’ engagement, confidence, and progress in their lessons.

Key responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, SEMH, or additional needs

Assist teachers in the classroom to promote engagement and understanding

Support pupils with behaviour, confidence, and emotional regulation

Help monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching and SEN staff

Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and purposeful learning environment
The ideal candidate
-
Experience working with children or young people (education, youth work, care, tutoring, etc.)

Calm, patient and empathetic approach
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
-
Confidence supporting behaviour and learning in a secondary setting

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
