The role
We’re working with a well-established secondary school in Northumberland to recruit a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils across KS3–KS5. The school offers a broad, knowledge-rich curriculum and a supportive culture where students are encouraged to engage, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.
You’ll provide essential in-class and small-group support, working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to help pupils access learning and thrive socially and academically.

Key responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN, SEMH, or additional learning needs

Support teachers in delivering lessons that keep pupils engaged and on task

Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and learning strategies

Contribute to a calm, inclusive, and purposeful classroom environment

Work closely with the SEN team and pastoral leads to monitor progress
The ideal candidate

Experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, tutoring, etc.)

Calm, patient, and nurturing approach

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Confident supporting pupils with behaviour and learning needs

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
