Some children just need one adult to believe in them. Could that be you?

We’re looking for calm, compassionate Learning Support Assistants to support primary-aged children with SEMH needs. These are pupils who may find school overwhelming, who’ve had a tough start, or who need extra help regulating emotions and behaviour. And your presence can make all the difference.

What the role involves:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups to manage emotions, build routines, and engage in learning

  • Working closely with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral staff to create safe, structured spaces

  • Using positive behaviour strategies and trauma-informed approaches

  • Celebrating progress—no matter how small—and being a steady, reliable presence each day

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience in education, care, youth work, or a similar role

  • Are calm under pressure, emotionally intelligent, and patient

  • Understand the challenges some pupils face and can build trust over time

  • Are available full-time (Mon–Fri) and keen to grow your skills

What you get from us:

  • Weekly pay through PAYE (no umbrella, no hassle)

  • FREE Thrive training and access to ongoing CPD

  • A friendly consultant who knows the local schools

  • Long-term roles with real potential for impact

  • A chance to be the person a child remembers for the right reasons

Not Thrive trained yet? No worries—we’ll get you sorted. It’s brilliant for SEMH support and 100% free when you work with us.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
