Job Description
The Learning Support Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting students with additional learning needs within the education setting. The main duties include:
Job Duties:
- Assisting students on a 1-1 basis with their learning activities under the guidance of the teaching staff
- Providing one-to-one support to students who require additional help
- Helping to create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment
- Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Supporting students with emotional and behavioural difficulties
- Assisting with the monitoring of student progress and reporting back to teaching staff
- Attending Training days and sessions set up by school
Required Qualifications:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Relevant experience working with individuals with additional learning needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Previous experience in a similar role within an educational setting
- Knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities
- Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures
- Ability to adapt support strategies to meet the individual needs of students
Preferred Qualifications:
- Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- First Aid training
- Mental Health Awareness training
Driving is desirable however the school does sits on a bus route
