Protocol Education are recruiting for graduates with an interest in teaching and educational psychology to work as learning support assistants in schools across Newcastle and North Tyneside.

You will be supporting students with their academic, personal and social development in secondary schools. This role is demanding and challenging, however extremely rewarding. You will be supporting learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health or Autism & Complex needs in a specialist learning environment.

You’ll be required to use a reflexive approach with the young people to help them access their learning, manage needs, and be able to work creatively and pro actively alongside them. Emotional resilience and an ability to  build a rapport is a must. This is an entry level position and we will consider graduates without prior experience if they are able to demonstrate a willingness and passion for working with education.

What the work entails....

• Working in small class groups or with individual students helping them to access a modified curriculum 

• Adapting learning to increase interaction.

• Provide emotional support if required.

• Encourage appropriate social interactions and participate in enrichment such as trips out.

• Maintaining professional standards at all times.

This role is an excellent opportunity for graduates who are considering taking their first steps in a career in educational psychology or teaching. It provides essential experience needed for further educational/ training in this area such as MSc Courses or initial teaching training. To be considered for learning support roles you must be available Monday- Friday (during term time)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
