We’re looking for a Learning & Life Skills Mentor to support pupils with a range of learning needs in a specialist setting in Sounderland. This school focuses on helping children and young adults gain the practical skills, confidence, and emotional resilience they need to thrive — both in school and beyond.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs (including autism, SEMH, and communication differences)

  • Helping to deliver life skills sessions such as cooking, budgeting, and travel training

  • Encouraging independence through positive reinforcement and structure

  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

  • Creating a calm, supportive environment that brings out the best in every learner

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience supporting young people with additional needs

  • A caring, patient, and proactive approach

  • Confidence in working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • An interest in developing pupils’ independence and wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
