We’re looking for a Learning & Life Skills Mentor to support pupils with a range of learning needs in a specialist setting in Sounderland. This school focuses on helping children and young adults gain the practical skills, confidence, and emotional resilience they need to thrive — both in school and beyond.
What you’ll be doing:

Supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs (including autism, SEMH, and communication differences)

Helping to deliver life skills sessions such as cooking, budgeting, and travel training

Encouraging independence through positive reinforcement and structure

Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

Creating a calm, supportive environment that brings out the best in every learner

Experience supporting young people with additional needs

A caring, patient, and proactive approach

Confidence in working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team

An interest in developing pupils’ independence and wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
