KS3 Teaching Assistant

If you enjoy supporting young people as they move through the early years of secondary school, this KS3 Teaching Assistant role in Gateshead could be a brilliant match. The school is looking for someone patient, encouraging and confident working with pupils aged 11 to 14.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work closely with teachers to support pupils in lessons, help them stay engaged and provide an extra layer of guidance when tasks feel challenging. KS3 can be a big transition, so your steady presence will make a real difference to pupils’ confidence and progress.

Your key responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils during classwork, group activities and independent tasks
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
  • Helping with routines, organisation and classroom expectations
  • Working 1:1 with pupils who need additional support
  • Sharing feedback with teaching and pastoral staff

What you’ll bring

  • Experience supporting children or young people
  • A calm, approachable and positive attitude
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence working with KS3 learners
  • An enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply
