A fantastic SEND school in Gateshead is looking for a confident and compassionate KS2 SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. If you’re someone who brings patience, positivity and a steady presence to the classroom, this role could be exactly what you’re after.

The role

You’ll be supporting KS2 pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning in a way that feels safe, structured, and encouraging. Every child has their own strengths and challenges, so no two days will feel the same, but your impact will be clear.

You’ll be:

  • Supporting pupils with autism, communication needs, SEMH, or sensory profiles

  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group support

  • Helping pupils regulate emotions and navigate their routines

  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and therapy staff

  • Creating a warm, predictable environment where pupils can flourish

What the school is looking for

  • Calm, caring, and able to build quick rapport

  • Confident supporting children with SEND

  • Patient, observant and able to follow structured strategies

  • A team player who communicates well and brings a positive attitude

If you’ve worked in SEND before, brilliant. If your experience comes from care, youth work, early years, or similar settings, your skills will still be valuable.
