A wonderful SEND school in Gateshead is looking for a KS1 Autism Support Practitioner who can bring calm, creativity, and connection to their classroom. If you love helping young children feel safe, understood, and ready to learn, this could be the perfect role for you.

What the role involves

You’ll be supporting KS1 pupils with autism who need a consistent, nurturing presence throughout the day. No two mornings will look the same, but you’ll be helping pupils grow their confidence, communication, and independence.

Your role will include:

  • 1:1 and small-group support for children with autism

  • Helping pupils navigate sensory needs and emotional regulation

  • Using visual timetables, routines, and structured support

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and the SENCO

  • Celebrating every breakthrough, no matter how small
