The Inclusion Support Assistant will work with students who may need support with behaviour, attendance, emotional regulation, or social interaction. You will collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN departments to ensure pupils feel supported and included.

Secondary schools in Sunderland are recruiting an Inclusion Support Assistant to support pupils who require additional help to fully participate in school life. This Inclusion Support Assistant role focuses on removing barriers to learning and supporting positive engagement across the school day.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils within classrooms and alternative learning spaces
  • Helping students re-engage with learning and school routines
  • Providing structured support during lessons and unstructured times
  • Working closely with pastoral and SEND teams

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a school or youth setting is preferred but not essential
  • An interest in inclusion, student wellbeing, and behaviour support
  • Ability to build professional relationships with pupils and staff

This Inclusion Support Assistant role is well suited to candidates seeking hands-on experience in a secondary school setting.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
