Humanities Graduate – Learning Mentor (History / Geography)

Location: Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne
Daily Pay: £90–£110

Protocol Education is proud to partner with a supportive secondary school in Gosforth to recruit a Humanities Graduate to work as a Learning Mentor across History and Geography, supporting student progress and engagement.

The school offers a broad curriculum that values critical thinking, cultural understanding and debate. It supports students aged 13–18 and is conveniently located with strong public transport connections.

Role Overview:
As a Learning Mentor, you will play a key role in providing academic support, helping students tackle challenges, and encouraging effective study skills. You will support teachers by reinforcing lesson content, assisting with resource preparation and mentoring pupils during guided study times.

Key duties include:

  • Providing 1:1 or small-group academic support in Humanities

  • Reinforcing learning from History and Geography lessons

  • Helping students improve essay writing, source analysis and research skills

  • Encouraging high-quality learning behaviours and participation

  • Supporting retrieval practice strategies ahead of assessments

You will be a great fit if you:

  • Hold a degree in History, Geography, Politics or a related subject

  • Are confident working collaboratively with students and staff

  • Have strong communication and organisational skills

  • Are planning to pursue teaching, community work or education policy

This role provides practical school experience and strengthens graduate applications to postgraduate teaching programmes.
