A well regarded secondary school in Wakefield is seeking a thoughtful and knowledgeable History Teacher for a January start. This role is ideal for a teacher who enjoys building strong disciplinary thinking, encouraging students to handle evidence with confidence and helping them understand the complexity of the past.
About the role
You’ll deliver a well sequenced KS3 and KS4 curriculum that develops historical enquiry, secure chronological understanding and a genuine curiosity about people and events. The department has clear schemes of learning, a collaborative planning culture and a leadership team who value consistent routines and high quality teaching.
The role includes:

Delivering structured lessons that promote analytical writing, source evaluation and extended thinking

Using assessment to track understanding and address misconceptions early

Guiding students through exam skills with clarity and precision

Creating a classroom environment where debate, discussion and challenge feel safe and purposeful

Contributing to departmental development, resource refinement and enrichment opportunities

A qualified History Teacher, ECT or experienced

Strong subject knowledge with a secure grasp of the KS3 and KS4 curriculum
