Love a lesson that sparks debate, big questions, and those lightbulb moments? This one’s for you.
We’re working with a friendly, well-run secondary school in Retford looking for a Humanities Teacher who can bring History, Geography, and RE to life for KS3 and KS4 pupils. It’s a school where curiosity is encouraged, staff support each other properly, and behaviour policies actually work in real life.
Whether you’re an experienced Humanities specialist or an ECT finding your feet, you’ll be welcomed, supported, and trusted to teach your subject with confidence.

Teaching engaging Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4

Making complex topics feel relevant, accessible, and genuinely interesting
-
Encouraging discussion, critical thinking, and respectful debate
-
Working as part of a collaborative Humanities department that shares resources and ideas
-
Building positive relationships with pupils who respond well to clear routines and enthusiasm
What the school offers
-
Supportive SLT who back their staff and value your subject
-
A settled timetable and clear expectations across the school
-
Strong department culture, no reinventing the wheel every weekend
-
Well-resourced classrooms and shared planning where needed
-
A place where Humanities is respected, not squeezed in
What we’re looking for
-
UK QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
-
Ability to teach at least one Humanities subject confidently to KS4
-
A calm, engaging classroom presence
-
Someone who enjoys helping pupils connect the past, present, and world around them
