HLTA – Sunderland (Specialist SEND Setting)

Full-time, Long-term
Start: Immediate or after half term
Pay: £95 to £130 per day (PAYE)

This is a fantastic role for an HLTA who loves stepping up, leading learning, and building consistency for pupils who rely on routine.

The school is a specialist provision with children who have a range of additional needs including PMLD, ASC, communication difficulties, and physical disabilities. Staff work closely with therapists, use lots of visual structure, and build individual learning journeys. They’re looking for a confident HLTA who can lead classes, run interventions, and bring a steady, nurturing presence.

What you’ll do

  • Lead whole-class learning with support from the teacher

  • Plan and run adapted interventions

  • Support pupils with communication, independence, and emotional regulation

  • Model calm, consistent practice for the wider team

  • Support personal care where required

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
