Position Overview

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dynamic primary school in Harlow on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with staff and students, fostering a positive learning environment and contributing to the school's ongoing success.

Key Responsibilities

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality lessons: Plan and deliver engaging lessons in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
  • Support classroom teaching: Work collaboratively with teachers to support pupils’ learning across various subjects and year groups.
  • Differentiate instruction: Adapt lessons and materials to meet the needs of all learners, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Provide intervention support: Lead small group interventions and 1:1 sessions to improve academic attainment and support social and emotional development.
  • Promote positive behaviour: Encourage positive behaviour management in line with school policies.
  • Assess pupil progress: Monitor and report on student performance, providing constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Supervise activities: Support pupils during break, lunch, and other school activities, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with staff: Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff members to contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning activities.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • HLTA status or equivalent Level 4 qualification.
  • Proven experience working within a primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to working with children and staff.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND is desirable.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
