Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

About the Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive and forward-thinking team in Wiltshire. This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced HLTA who enjoys taking the lead in the classroom and making a real difference to pupils’ learning and wellbeing.

You’ll play a key role in supporting high-quality teaching and learning, confidently leading lessons across a range of subjects and working closely with teachers and support staff to ensure every pupil feels supported, challenged and included.

Many of the pupils you’ll be working with have a diagnosis of autism, so flexibility, creativity and empathy are essential. No two days are the same, but every day is rewarding.

Contract: Full-time, Permanent / Long-term

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading and delivering lessons under the direction of teaching staff

  • Planning and delivering differentiated learning activities

  • Supporting pupils’ learning, progress and emotional wellbeing

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and external professionals

  • Creating a safe, nurturing and positive learning environment

  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress and feeding back to relevant staff

  • Taking on reasonable duties as agreed with the leadership and cover teams

  • Have experience leading lessons and supporting pupil progress

  • Hold an HLTA qualification or have equivalent relevant experience

  • Communicate clearly and work well as part of a team

  • Are resilient, organised and solution-focused

  • Are passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs

  • Bring patience, professionalism and a calm presence to the classroom
