About the Role
We’re looking for a brilliant Teaching Assistant with hands-on health care experience to support pupils with medical or health-related needs. This role sits within a specialist setting in the Newcastle and North Tyneside area, where you’ll be part of a caring team helping pupils feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
You’ll be supporting pupils academically and also helping to manage their health, comfort and wellbeing across the school day. You’ll work closely with staff, families and external medical professionals to ensure each child’s care plan is followed with accuracy and kindness.
Key Responsibilities

Support or administer medication and health care routines, following training and clear protocols

Help pupils manage their health needs during daily routines while maintaining dignity and comfort

Support learning and engagement alongside care duties

Communicate with health professionals, school staff and families to follow individual care plans

Notice and report any changes in pupil wellbeing promptly
Person Specification
-
Experience in a health care role supporting children or young people with medical needs

Understanding of medical protocols, safeguarding and confidentiality

Kind, calm and reliable, with strong attention to detail

Able to follow instructions carefully and communicate clearly with families and professionals
-
DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one, plus relevant first aid or medical training is a bonus

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
