Protocol Education is working with secondary schools across Bristol and surrounding areas to offer graduates paid roles as Unqualified Teachers and Cover Supervisors. It’s a great way to gain real classroom experience, build confidence, and see if education is the right path for you.

No QTS required. No prior teaching experience needed.
We provide free training and ongoing support so you feel prepared from day one.


What you’ll be doing

As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll:

  • Supervise pre-set lessons when teachers are absent

  • Keep students focused, calm, and on task

  • Manage classroom behaviour confidently and fairly

  • Support students to complete their work

  • Feedback to teaching staff at the end of the day

  • Follow safeguarding procedures at all times

You’ll work across different subjects and year groups, giving you broad, valuable experience in secondary schools.

Before you start, you’ll receive FREE Cover Supervisor training, created by experienced school staff, covering:

  • Classroom management essentials

  • Positive behaviour strategies

  • What schools expect from cover staff

  • How to make a strong impression and stand out

You’ll also get FREE Thrive Approach training, helping you to:

  • Understand student behaviour more deeply

  • Build positive relationships with pupils

  • Support students with SEMH and SEND needs

  • Create calmer, more inclusive learning environments

  • Pay: £100–£150 per day (depending on experience)

  • Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm

  • Contract: Full-time or part-time

  • Start date: Flexible

  • Location: Bristol & surrounding areas

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
