Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Food Technology Teacher to join our dynamic team of educators. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for food and nutrition education, as well as a commitment to inspiring and empowering students to explore the culinary arts.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and practical food technology lessons that cover a range of topics, including cooking techniques, nutrition, food safety, and food preparation.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to experiment, innovate, and develop their culinary skills.
  • Develop and implement curriculum plans that align with the National Curriculum and the school's educational objectives.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in the kitchen, guiding students through recipe preparation, cooking techniques, and food presentation.
  • Incorporate technology and multimedia resources into lessons to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to integrate food technology across the curriculum and participate in cross-curricular projects and events.
  • Stay updated on current trends and developments in food and nutrition education and actively participate in professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Hospitality Management, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.
  • Previous experience teaching food technology or culinary arts at the secondary school level, with a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Passion for food and nutrition education, with a creative approach to teaching and a willingness to experiment with new recipes and techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Creativity, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Experience working in a commercial kitchen or food service environment is desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
