Sheffield
Start: Easter | Contract: Full-time, 1 Year (Maternity Cover)

Love the smell of fresh bread in the oven and a classroom buzzing with creativity? This one’s for you.

We’re working with a large, well-established secondary school in Sheffield that’s looking for a Food Technology Teacher to join them from Easter for a one-year maternity cover. It’s the kind of school where practical learning is taken seriously, student voice is strong, and staff genuinely back each other.

The department is well-resourced, organised, and passionate about giving students real-life skills they’ll use long after they’ve left the classroom. Think purposeful lessons, proud displays of student work, and pupils who actually want to get stuck in.

What you’ll be doing

  • Teaching Food Technology across KS3 and KS4

  • Planning engaging, hands-on lessons that build confidence and independence

  • Preparing students for GCSE assessments

  • Working within a supportive and collaborative DT faculty

What the school offers

  • A strong leadership team that values staff wellbeing

  • Clear behaviour policies that are consistently applied

  • Well-equipped kitchens and practical spaces

  • A positive, community-focused culture

Whether you’re an experienced teacher looking for a fresh setting or an ECT keen to build confidence in a supportive department, you’ll be welcomed properly here. No being left to “just get on with it” – you’ll have guidance, structure, and colleagues who share resources rather than guard them.

What you’ll need

  • UK QTS

  • Experience teaching Food Technology in a secondary setting

  • Strong classroom presence and a calm, organised approach

  • A genuine passion for practical learning
