Flexible Teaching Assistant – Newcastle & North Tyneside
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne / North Tyneside area
Contract: Term-time, flexible hours – supply and long-term opportunities available
Hours: Part-time – full-day or morning/afternoon availability

About the Role

We are seeking a Flexible Teaching Assistant to provide adaptable classroom support across a range of primary and secondary settings in Newcastle and North Tyneside. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, can step into different roles with confidence, and thrives in inclusive learning environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom cover when Teaching Assistants or teachers are absent

  • Support pupils individually or in small groups, reinforcing learning under teacher direction

  • Assist with classroom routines, transitions, and behaviour management

  • Help prepare materials, displays, and learning resources

  • Encourage positive engagement and monitor pupil progress, feeding back to class teachers

Person Specification

  • Experience in schools or working with children preferred (not essential)

  • Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to different classroom environments

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Patient, positive, and confident managing varied pupil needs

  • DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain) and commitment to safeguarding

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
