Female PE Teacher

Salary: £140 - 220 per day

We’re working closely with a welcoming secondary school in Shrewsbury to appoint a female PE teacher for a maternity cover starting in February. This is a school where positivity, teamwork, and genuine care for pupils shape everyday life.

The PE department plays a big role in the wider school community. Lessons are active, inclusive, and focused on helping students build confidence, resilience, and a love of movement. Whether it’s team sports, fitness, or trying something new, pupils are encouraged to get involved, challenge themselves, and celebrate progress, not just performance.

You’ll be joining a supportive staff team who value strong relationships just as much as high standards. The curriculum is broad and well planned, facilities are well maintained, and there’s a real emphasis on participation, wellbeing, and enjoyment. Sport is seen as a powerful tool for helping students grow both physically and emotionally.

Beyond lessons, the school offers a range of extracurricular opportunities, and staff are encouraged to bring their own interests and ideas to the table. Pupils are motivated, behaviour is well managed, and there’s a calm, respectful atmosphere across the school.

Pastoral support is a real strength here. Clear routines and consistent expectations help pupils feel safe and supported, while staff work closely together to ensure wellbeing and learning go hand in hand.

This role would suit you if you:

  • Are a qualified female PE teacher, or an ECT keen to build experience

  • Enjoy delivering engaging, inclusive PE lessons

  • Believe in encouraging participation, confidence, and teamwork

  • Want to be part of a friendly, collaborative school community

This is a great opportunity to step into a well-supported maternity cover role where you can focus on inspiring pupils, building relationships, and making a positive impact from day one.
