We’re supporting a wonderful primary school in Gateshead that’s looking for an EYFS SEN specialist to join their team. You’ll be working closely with a pupil who needs steady, nurturing, one-to-one support to feel settled, understood and ready to learn.

It’s hands-on, heart-first work, and the school is genuinely lovely, with a team that knows how important early intervention really is.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting a child in Nursery or Reception with additional needs

  • Creating a safe, predictable routine that helps them thrive

  • Using sensory strategies, visuals and simple regulation tools

  • Working closely with the SENCO, EYFS lead and parents

  • Helping the child build confidence, communication and independence

What the school is looking for

  • Experience with SEND, ideally within Early Years

  • A calm, patient, unflappable approach

  • Someone warm and consistent who builds trust quickly

  • An understanding of sensory needs, communication strategies or early developmental milestones

If you’ve worked in SEND provisions, specialist nurseries or early years settings, they’ll absolutely want to meet you.
