A wonderful special educational school in Gateshead is looking for a caring and enthusiastic EYFS 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join their early years team. If you love helping young children feel safe, supported and ready to explore the world at their own pace, this role could be a perfect fit.

About the role

You’ll be working closely with one EYFS pupil who needs consistent, nurturing support throughout the school day. Early years in a specialist setting is all about connection, routine and celebrating small steps that add up to big progress.

Your day will involve:

  • Supporting communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation

  • Using visuals, routines and play-based approaches

  • Encouraging early independence and confidence

  • Working alongside teachers, SENCO and therapy staff

  • Creating a warm, predictable environment where the pupil feels secure

Who we’re looking for

Someone who is:

  • Calm, patient and naturally nurturing

  • Confident supporting young children with SEND

  • Observant, gentle and responsive to a child’s needs

  • A positive team player who’s happy to get stuck in

Experience in early years or SEND is ideal, but transferable experience from care, nursery settings, youth work or similar roles is also valuable.
